Tibetan Filmmakers
A collective of Tibetan filmmakers based in Dharamsala fostering a community that shares knowledge, skills and connections to tell stories about Tibet, India and beyond. Drung filmmakers and members are dedicated to the advancement of story-telling in the Tibetan exile communities. The collective provides a unique mutual support system for local filmmakers to share, build and realize various film projects by sharing resources and expertise. Drung also focuses on building a community of story-tellers through workshops, film screenings and other educational programs.

Sonam Tseten
Filmmaker
Sonam Tseten is a Tibetan Filmmaker based in Dharamsala, India. Born in Tibet Sonam went into exile as a young kid and grew up in India among the Tibetan refugee community. Sonam has made several mid-length and feature length films including Tsampa to Pizza, Girl From China and most recently Pawo co-directed with German filmmaker Marvin Litwak.His films mostly deal with the stories of separation, reunion and exilic experiences.
Tenzin Kalden
Filmmaker
Tenzin Kalden is a Dharamshala based cinematographer and a second generation Tibetan born in India. He was a fulbright scholar and studied filmmaking at DFA in New York City. After completing his film studies in 2015, he has worked in the camera department of numerous projects, including feature films, ads, music videos, shorts and documentaries. Tenzin’s last project was Light a candle, a 30 minute documentary that he shot and directed. The film was screened at Dharamshala International Film Festival and Woodstock Film Festival in 2019.
Tenzin Tsetan Choklay
Filmmaker
Tenzin Tsetan Choklay is a Tibetan-American filmmaker and spends time between New York and Dharamshala. Born to Tibetan refugee parents, Tenzin grew up in Dharamshala in northern India. He studied film directing at the prestigious Korean Academy of Film Arts in Seoul, South Korea. His past films include a number of short films: History of Momos (2007), Elif’s Seoulitude (2007) and Tell Tale (2008). His 2014 film, Bringing Tibet Home, a feature documentary, won numerous international awards and had its theatrical release in more than 40 theatres in South Korea in 2016.
